Interesse an einer Promotion? Are you interested in a Ph.D.?
Aus Zeitgründen können unaufgefordert eingesandte Promotionsprojekte nicht im Vorfeld evaluiert werden. Bewerbungen kommen zumeist aus dem Feld der besonders engagierten und leistungsfähigen Studentinnen und Studenten, die am Institut ausgebildet wurden.
Auch Bewerbungen von außen sind möglich. Allerdings müssen potentielle Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten einen engen Bezug zum Lehrstuhl entwickeln. Die Studienabschlüsse sollten im Promotionsfach (Musikwissenschaft) liegen. Bei Bewerbungen von außen wird besonderer Wert auf die Mitarbeit am Kolloquium des Lehrgebiets, an wissenschaftlichen Tagungen und anderen Aktivitäten im Feld des Promotionsfaches über mindestens ein Semester gelegt. Auf Basis dieser Aktivitäten und der Qualität des Exposés kann dann entschieden werden, ob ein Promotionsstudium angetreten werden kann.
Die Zusage beinhaltet lediglich die Aufnahme einer Individualpromotion. Damit sind weder die Aufnahme in einen strukturierten Promotionsstudiengang, ein Stipendium noch eine Stelle gemeint. Förderanträge müssten dann von der Promotionsstelle aus erfolgen. Erfahrungsgemäß werden ca. 20% der Anträge an diesem Lehrstuhl gefördert.

Due to the time constraint, unsolicited Ph.D. proposals sent to the chair cannot be evaluated beforehand. Applications usually come from the most committed and high-potential in-house graduates.
Applications from graduates from outside the university are also welcome. Outside graduates should hold a degree in musicology and should seek to connect to the chair in multiple ways. They are invited to attend the colloquium series of the chair, symposia and conferences over at least one term and should contribute to other academic activities. Their performance in these areas and the quality of the Ph.D. proposal are essential for the selection process.
Enrolment in the Ph.D. programme means that an individual Ph.D. project can be undertaken. It does involve neither a grant nor a position at the institute. Funding applications need to be made by all Ph.D. candidates individually. Some 20% of all Ph.D. candidates successfully acquire funding at this chair.
